Chinese scholars suspected of fraud: collective deception of international medical journals
Springer, the world-renowned academic publisher, announced on the 21st that its journal Tumor Biology has retracted 107 papers.
According to the retraction watch report of the paper retraction monitoring website, most of them are through the “true review expert fake mailbox†way, and they have escaped the review and monitoring. Some paper authors use the name of experts in the field to apply for an e-mail address, and provide the review comments of the positive praises from the false mailboxes to the journals without the knowledge of the experts.
From the list provided by Springer, the authors involved are from China, and there are many famous schools such as Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and China Medical University. Since March 2015, a number of international publishing groups, including Springer, have concentrated on recollections four times, including 117 papers involving Chinese authors. This time, "Chinese scholars deceive international journals" once again mobilized people's already sensitive nerves.
According to statistics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (14 articles), Shandong University (9 articles), and China Medical University (7 articles) were the most retracted. The list of retracted organizations is as follows:
Annojie, president of the Greater China Region of Springer Nature Publishing Group, said the retraction was a continuation of the 2015 retraction. He said that "Tumor Biology" used the false peer review information held in the 2015 retraction event to inspect all the papers published from 2012 to 2016, and found that the papers were withdrawn.
