Juvenile crab cultivation refers to the process of intensifying the cultivation of juvenile crabs (referred to as big-eyed larvae) that are caught in the natural sea area or artificially cultivated crabs, and can continue to be cultivated into larger-sized juvenile crabs according to the needs of breeding.

Young crabs can be cultivated in the following ways: First, they can be cultivated in the original pool. If the density is too high, they can be properly caught and transferred to his pond for cultivation. Second, the adult crab pool can be divided into small pools as a temporary young crab cultivation pond. After the juvenile crab grows to a certain size, count it into a large pool and then remove the temporarily separated small dike or block the net. Third, when the crab pool is adequate, choose one as a temporary breeding pool for young crabs. The young crabs are to be cultivated to the required specifications, counted in stocks, and then treated with the pool clearing pond, which can be used as a crab breeding pond again; and fourthly, special crabs are used to cultivate cement ponds. Specific preparations before the cultivation are as follows.

1. Cultivation ponds

The cultivation pond should be built on the seashore where the water quality is good, the freshwater source is convenient and pollution-free, and it is better to be close to the seedling area. Traffic should also be convenient. The specialized households that are usually cultivated can prepare 5-6 ponds to facilitate the decentralization of seedlings. The area of ​​the cultivation pond should not be too large, generally 15 square meters (3 meters 5 meters) or 20 square meters (4 meters 5 meters), pool depth 1 to 1.5 meters. Built with bricks, the inner wall is smooth, and there is a "reverse lip" device inwards at the mouth of the pool to prevent young crabs from fleeing. The bottom is paved with 3 to 4 centimeters thick sand, and some palm pieces, nets, artificial seaweeds, etc. are placed in the pool for crabs to inhabit. The sea and fresh water are piped from above the pool wall, and the seawater salinity in the pool can be adjusted at any time. There is a drain at the bottom of the pool, and a water level adjustment pipe is installed at the bottom of one of the pool's total drains to control the water level in the pool.

2. Qingchi

Before the crabs are stocked, they should be cleared. The new pond must be soaked in water for more than one month beforehand. The old pond is then washed with medicine and disinfected. The cement pool is immersed in bleaching powder (30% to 35% of available chlorine) 50 to 100 g/m3 water for 1 hour and then rinsed with clean seawater several times. When the earthen pond is incubated, bleaching powder (30% to 35% of available chlorine) is used. 50 g/m3 water body, first with a small amount of water into a paste, then add water to dilute, spill the whole pool, the drug disappearance time is 1 to 2 days; or quicklime 375 to 500 g/m3 water body, can be dry, also Can be used after hydration, do not spill when the full cooling, the drug disappearance time is 10 days. After the disappearance of medicinal properties, they can be stocked.

3. Water and pool water desalination

All sea and freshwater entering the cultivation pond must be precipitated and filtered through 120 mesh or 150 mesh sieves. When the salinity (3 to 5 days) of the crab seedling stage is 30 to 35, it will gradually fade after that, and about 1/10 of fresh water will be added each day. When the large-eyed larvae metamorphose into young crabs, the salinity can be reduced to 15‰ to 20‰.

4. Crab stocking

When the crabs are shipped, the temperature in the pool water and the seedlings is first measured. If the temperature difference between the two is too large, a transition should be made so that the temperature difference can be gradually reduced to less than 1°C before it can be put into the pool. Stocking density is l500-2000/m2.
