Internet Medical Investors: Looking for a healthy app on the iPhone's first screen
Rock Health is a seed fund dedicated to Internet healthcare , and its founder and managing director is Halle Tecco. Over the past four years, Rock Health has supported more than 80 medical high-tech start-ups, including Omada Health, Doctor on Demand, and Augmedix. Recently, Helle Tecco participated in the Ask A VC interview hosted by the famous technology media TechChurch. Let's take a look at the famous female venture capitalist's view on Internet medical care.
Q: In 2014, everyone is talking about wearable technology. It is estimated that only 10 million event monitors were sold during the year. So what is the next stage of wearable technology?
A: In the spring of 2014, we conducted a series of studies around wearable technology and found that from 2011 to 2013, venture capital for this area increased fivefold. Therefore, there is a transaction record mentioned in the problem, and there is also a concurrent rise in the sale of wearable devices (Fitbit is one of the best). These initial wearable devices are basically activity trackers for simple measurements, but we believe they open a door to more possibilities.
We are beginning to see some products that use very interesting biosensing techniques, such as non-invasive entry into tissue fluids using microneedles, or to measure new sources of data—such as Spire to collect user respiratory data, and a name called Empatica's company is trying to predict seizures. Therefore, in addition to the existing activity tracking, wearable technology may have more focus in the future. Of course, there is also non-invasive blood glucose monitoring of Google contact lenses - this is really cool. The inventor of the technology recently jumped to Amazon. We still don't know if Amazon will make a difference in this area, but the technology giants have indeed begun to invest in this area, which is very good.
Q: When people talk about health and activity tracking, they often overlook the huge personal data involved. Should we pay attention to the direction of this data?
A: Your fears are right. There are indeed some people who are very concerned about this matter. Personally, first of all, I really can't think of how this data will be used against me. If someone wants to steal my health data, what is his purpose? My employer can't fire me because of this, and my insurance company can't let me pay more for it... I don't see the motivation to steal health data, so I don't think we should look at it from this angle. Personal data security is something that must be considered in any technology, but for me, the worst case is that people are too afraid to disclose privacy because they are too afraid to disclose privacy, so that they can't know more about themselves. We call it citizen science - if we have more data, we can find more answers. Be aware that if someone steals my ATM card, it's much worse than they stole my Misfit data.
Q: I know that chatting gadgets will be very interesting. But what I want to ask is, do the companies you are working with want to have some kind of social influence?
A: Let's take a look at an interesting example: Oscar Health is now offering Misfit Flashes to his members, and if members wear it, they get a discount on their monthly health insurance. I think this move has a huge impact – it's a real financial reward for stimulating patient care. It does not necessarily have any social impact on the real low-income people, but I am optimistic that this type of incentive can have a certain effect. Imagine what would happen if Medicare/Medicaid could do this and provide rewards to their members. The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is also doing an interesting practice, testing the market for wearables for the 55+ age group. By convention, wearable devices are generally young people in their early 20s; and the monitoring of wearable technology activities affects the behavior of older people who are less tech savvy, I think the test results will be sent to us. Description.
Both IgM and IgG are immunoglobulin which are produced by the immune system to provide protectionagainst the 2019-nCoV. Some patients with negative results in nucleic acid test show positive in IgM test, indicating that the IgG / IgM detection is one of the effective methods for the diagnosis of 2019-nCoV.
