Lamb fattening need to pay attention
Hybrid lambs were selected for fattening. The so-called crossbred lamb is a lamb produced by cross-breeding between different sheep breeds. Because of the heterosis of the born lambs, under the same husbandry and management, the hybrid lambs have a major new birth, the survival rate of the lambs is high, the growth and development are fast, and the feed reward is high. If the selected hybrid parents are suitable, the hybrid sheep fattening is generally 20%~30% more economical than the local sheep.
Strengthen ewe feeding and management. Lamb birth weight and ewes lactation levels are closely related to maternal nutritional status. This requires the strengthening of rearing and management in the late gestation and pre-lactation phases of the ewes to provide quality lambs for fattening.
Lamb feeds early. The lambs can be trained to eat forage after fifteen days after they are born, but they must begin to feed high-quality fodder, such as alfalfa hay and fried soybeans, and they must gradually improve the rumen function of the lamb. At the beginning, the grass freely eats food. The total feeding amount of the concentrate for one day does not exceed 0.1 kg and gradually increases with the age.
Early weaning. Early weaning is essentially controlling the lactation period, shortening the lambing period and controlling the breeding cycle. The lambs are weaned early, the ewes are mated early, and the lambs are born early. They reach the age of two or two years and three children and multiple births. Important technical measures. From the point of view of the postpartum lactation law of the ewes, the lactation reaches a peak three weeks after the birth, and then gradually declines. After the lamb is born from 7 weeks to 8 weeks of age, the breast milk is far from meeting its nutritional needs. Judging from the development of the gastrointestinal function of the lambs, the forage material can be effectively used after two months of life, so weaning is more appropriate at this time.
Deworming before fattening. In order to increase the feed conversion rate and increase the economic benefits of fattening, insecticides are needed before fattening. Anithiophene imidazole (10 mg to 15 mg/kg) or ivermectin (0.2 mg/kg) can be used for deworming.
