New assays identify individual influenza viruses
A joint research team between Osaka University and Tokyo Institute of Technology has developed a new single particle detection method that uses a combination of nanopore sensors and AI technology to identify the type of individual influenza virus with high precision (type A, type B, subtype A). ).
The way to identify the type of influenza so far is to visually judge whether a marker is present in the immunochromatographic test kit. This method is difficult to judge at the beginning of an infection with a small number of viruses, and the accuracy rate depends on the individual ability of the tester. The team used nanopore detection, which measures the ion current passing through the nanopore set on the ultra-thin silicon nitride film, and successfully detected a single influenza virus. This method uses pattern recognition technology based on machine learning in the analysis of ion current signals.
